  • Carmel’s tryst with Internationalism- The year 2009 saw Carmel High School participate in a yearlong accreditation programme in association with the British Council for the ISA (International School) that recognizes & celebrates exemplary practices of internationalism in schools. Students right from the Kinder Garden to class 10 had to work on various topics like Costumes of the world, food habits, dance forms, National festivals, Endangered animals, Tourism, Global warming to name a few.

    The students also interacted with their peers across the globe and exchanged information. The programme provided a framework for international partnerships & global learning. The School received the ISA for a period of 3 years from 2010-2013.

 
    
 
  • Our School celebrated the spirit of 61st Republic Day on 26th January 2010, by showcasing India’s progress in the last 60years in the form of a play titled ‘India’s Pride: Our Constitution’ highlighting the importance and greatness of the Indian Constitution.

    Former Chief Justice of India, Justice M N Venkatachaliah was the chief guest who released audio CD ‘Sankalpa’ which is a collection of poems in the form of songs. He was overwhelmed by the dedicated performance and the patriotism of the children. He also appreciated the school for inculcating the patriotism in children. Justice K. Jaganath Shetty, Former judge, Karnataka High Court, also presided over the function.

    Around 500 children participated in this colourful event which stunned the audience. This event was a vision of our ‘Constitution’ in brief and also portrayed the progress of our country in a sequential way that is right from the  framing of the constitution by Dr. B.R Ambedkar to winning of Oscar by  A.R. Rahman.
 
 
 

Graduation Day Celebration

 

Every year our school celebrates Graduation Day with a theme for outgoing students of class10.This year we celebrated this event on 6th February 2010 with a theme “Break Barriers, Build Bridges, Bring Changes”. The chief guest for the day was Mrs.Sandra Farias, Head of the Department of Psychology, Roshini Nilaya, and Mangalore. Incidentally she is the alumni of Carmel High School. She highlighted the importance of ABC’s of life that is A-Attitude, B-Belief and C-Character.

The Administrator, Mr. Roshan Menezes refined  the word “CARMELITE” as committed, authentic, realistic, magnanimous, efficient, loyal, innovative, tolerance and enterprising.

The ceremony was marked by speeches, nostalgic memories by the outgoing prefect, soothing rendition of songs by the school choir& Transfer of charge to the new prefect by the old prefect.

 
 
 

Students:

 

Our youngsters Aneesh Gopal 10B,Vishnu Prasad9B and Yashas7A have brought laurels to themselves as well as to  school at the International level by representing India in Sri Lanka for Indo-LankaT-20 Power Cricket tournament U-15 years.

 

They played four matches against Sri Lanka Fingara’s Cricket Association. Our students who represented India tied the matches 2-2. Among them Aneesh Gopal was declared as Best Bowler and Vishnu Prasad as the Best Batsman.

Sharath .R of 7B who is a member of K.C. Reddy Swimming Centre has secured around 65 prizes in various styles of swimming which would include I, II and III prizes so far. He had represented our school at ICSE National level and secured silver medal for 100m Butterfly stroke. It’s our privilege to have a budding swimmer amongst us in our institution.

 

Best Singer on E-TV

 

T. Nikhil of 4B was adjudged as the “Best Singer” in the popular reality show on E-TV Kannada Channel, showcased at the programme of “Yedhe Thumbi Haduvenu”   conducted by eminent playback singer S.P. Balasubramanyam and was awarded with the cash prize of Rs.60, 000/-

 

Lavanya.G of 10A has participated in various styles in State senior Aquatic Championship-09 and XXIV sub junior National Aquatic Championship-09 level events and secured many gold, silver and bronze medals. She has also won a Bronze at National level held by Swimming Federation Of India.

 

Dhanush Babu of 9B continues to be the ace Skater and has won Silver and Bronze medals at the National level and three Gold medals at the State level.

Our school has a  number of budding Skaters, Rakshit M of 5B and Nisarga N of 4A  who have reached the national level and have won three gold medals and bronze medal respectively.

 

Verbattle  English Debate:

P.Abhishek Jayakumar of 6D and Tapan Alexander Menezes of 6B were
declared the runners up in the Verbattle Beginner Championships after competing with 60 schools.

They have won cash prize & bicycles from Hero.

Poornashree.S of 5B and Bhargav Kodali have secured Bronze and silver medal in painting.

 

‘Buoyancee’ in association with ‘ONGC’ conducted a Painting Competition to bring about awareness to save fuels. The following students participated and have won prizes .

 
                     
 

Shashank.R.Bairy of 6A 1st prize and Rs.350, Harshith Sheshadri of 7C 2nd prize and Rs.250, Veetharag Jain of 5D 3rd and Rs.150 at the Inter-school level.

 

Florence Public School R.T.Nagar conducted Florence Fiesta’ in which our High School girls have won 1st prize in group ‘Folk Dance’ event.

Rasmitha.R was awarded 2nd place in the event ‘Voice of the year’.

 

‘ASSET’(Assessment of scholastic skills through educational testing) In thisOur students Shashank.R. Bairy of 5C and Akash Janardhan of 6C, Yash. A. Nagada of 6C and Tarun Bhargav of 7B in Science, P. Abhishek Jayakumar in Mathematics and Social Studies have shown outstanding performances during the Academic year 2009-10.

 
 

IAIS Exam:

Abhishek Jayakumar of 6D and Aditya kothari of 7C  have secured
High Distinction in English and  Science respectively.

 

  

 
           

‘The Mahatma Gandhi Rashtra Bhasha Hindi Exam’ is conducted for all levels in which Sharmith.S.Bysani of 7C, Deepashri.S of 7B and Shubham.K of 6D have won gold medals at the Inter-school level.

 

T.G Likitha is a fine artist and has won many prizes conducted by many organizations. She has secured a Gold medal and a consolation prizeof Rs. 100 at the state level competition conducted by Schools India under the aegis of HOPE. She has also won the 1st prize in painting conducted by Yuga events.

 

  

 

Anupama Bhat of 9A has won the 1st prize in Western dance solo conducted by Yuga events.

 

Abacus

 
Kruthika J.S of 4A has secured two gold medals at the State level.

Nithin.B.S of 5B has been declared a Champion and won a Trophy in the Brain O Brain Abacus Competition.

GAP Quest

 

 Hemanth Pugaliya of 10D and Abilash Jain of 10C were declared finalists in Quiz.

 

Varsha.S of 9A was declared finalist in ShipWreck.

 

Vibha Mohan of 9C was declared as the ‘Winner’ for the event ‘Ignite Your Minds.’

 

Hemanth & Satwik Prabhu also won the 1st place in the ICSE School Quiz and qualified to the National level to be held at Kolkatta.

   

 

 

Hemanth Pugaliya of 10D, Sriram of 10D and Sanjay R.S of 10A have reached highest level in scouts to get the prestigious award, the ‘President Award’ for Scouts.

 

Taekwondo

 

Nikhil . N. Jain of 9B and Pooja. P 4B has secured Bronze medal and gold medal at the National level respectively.  Ramkumar.D of 4B has attained DAN (Taekwondo) at a test conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the World Taekwondo for promotion test.

 

Satyajeet of 7C has won 1st place in the Inter-State Chess Championship at the State level and has 4th place in the 5th ICA Rapid Chess Championship conducted by the Innovators Chess Academy.

 

Goutham G. R of 10D has won gold and silver medals in Athletic meet held by ICSE schools at the State level.

 

Vikram Gowda of 2A, one of the ace swimmers of our school has secured various prizes at the State level conducted by the Karnataka State Swimming Association.

 

Rohan V.R. of 3A has won Silver medal conducted by the Interclass State level Taekwondo Championship.

 

Ansh Patel of 4Ahas won ‘Individual championship’ for various events in Skating at the State level

 

Puneeth.M of 4C and Abhiman.A.R of 3C were in the team who participated in the Raichur Zone Cricket Tournament under 14 years conducted by Karnataka Cricket Association and was declared runners-up.

 

Abhiman. A.R was adjudged and also awarded as the ‘Promising Player’ of the match.
